China/HK photo diary

About a month ago I came back from a long, (pretty much) annual trip to the Far East and I'm finally getting around to doing the photo dump on my blog. I came back with Asia-exclusive beauty products, birthday cake flavour Oreos and about 10lbs heavier!

To be honest, it's been a month but I'm still trying to get my head around being firmly back in the UK. After three weeks away, just could you be bothered? On the one hand, I can finally converse with people around me (although I have started Mandarin classes!). On the other hand, work!! I'm still getting used to the hours and having my free time cut down so much but hopefully I'll get an organised blogging routine going soon. Kudos to full-time workers who are still so dedicated to their blogs (I'm looking at you, Michelle).

China was for visiting family and Hong Kong was just for funsies. Highly recommend visiting HK if you've ever considered it.

I thought this was amusingly Asian - apparently in Hong Kong, people carve their names and whatnot onto bamboo:

Dim sum was an almost daily occurence and the main reason for my expanded waistline. Like I've said before, I'm no food blogger; not that the food stayed untouched long enough for me to snap a photo anyway. I think Guangzhou is supposed to have some of the best dim sum in China, so lucky that's where I was staying then hehe.

While dim sum is great, I think the highlight of my Guangzhou trip was finding not one, but TWO cat cafes! I never got to visit the one in London while I was still at university, so this was just a hoot.

I love trying out what's available in McDonalds in Asia (because I'm v cultured and that) and I was so surprised to find macarons in the McCafe. I think they should just stick to burgers though, because they only really looked the part, not so much tasted the part. BUT McDonalds China have it absolutely ON POINT(!!!) with their McDelivery service. UK, you need to do this!!

And this was just a suuuuuper cute puppy I couldn't resist adding in here. He found a very comfortable resting place on my lap and just lay flopped there and asdfghjkl, my heart just about melted.
