Back in June, I was invited to preview the Whistles AW14 collection and boy oh boy was it a treat. This was the first "blog thing" I've done that involved leaving my house and as far as first blog things go, it was a good'un. Luckily for me, Nicol agreed to also go, so I wasn't alone and I got to meet another lovely blogger who I'd so far only chatted to online.
I promise you it wasn't laziness that made me delay this post for two months. I just thought it made sense to write this up closer to Autumn, so everything is fresh in your shopping minds. There is a particular scarf I'm still thinking about that I don't know if I go on in life without, so I for one am thankful that AW is coming.
I was actually surprised at the collection when I first walked into the showroom. There were the usual navy and black pieces but I didn't expect so much light grey, pastel purples and pinks. Not that I'm complaining; powdery colours would be very welcome in my AW outfit rotation. I probably gasped and said "I love that" too many times but how could you not when presented with cosy looking, large check prints, sophisticately presented faux fur and very cool, modern interpretations of Japanese silhouettes - excessive fabric, loose draping and the like!!
And the cool thing about the accompanying menswear AW14 collection is that they've purposely made pieces androgynous so that the girls can wear them too. I'll be sticking to womenswear because I'm most definitely not one of the cool kids who could pull that off (obvious from the fact that I gravitated straight towards the cat clutch and key ring).
Oh yeah, so this is the scarf I'm dreaming about:
Is 'dreamy' even a colour? I didn't think so but then this scarf happened, so... I guess it is.
The collection is being drip fed through Aug/Sep/Oct, so I'm going to have to wait just a little bit longer for my little neck friend. You can view the lookbook here.
