What's in my carry on bag

What's in my carry on bag AKA an excuse to do some sort of flat lay because flat lays are fun!! Organisation IS fun.

I'm typing this up at 3am, three hours before I leave for the airport, because who needs sleep? Catching a morning flight but then arriving also in the morning on the other side of the world is not too ideal and right now, I'm languishing for a McDonalds breakfast.

If you didn't catch one of my previous posts mentioning it, I'm heading to China to visit the ol' fam, with Hong Kong also happening for a few days some time in the middle. Despite the majority of my family being from mainland China, my allegiance lies with HK (proud I heart HK t-shirt owner here). If you've been, you'll understand why! Two words: food and Sasa. Anyway, because of my absence, I've scheduled posts, just so the blog doesn't gather dust while I'm away. Anyway anyway, onto the matter at hand:

- Headphones - as imperative as taking a passport. These Frends Layla headphones are on every other photo on Instagram for good reason: they're beautiful!

- Portable charger - This little device by Anker is the best I've ever used and an absolute lifesaver in terms of first world problems. When fully charged, it holds enough to charge an iPhone three times (also powers tablets and Android phones).

- iPad - loaded with Adventure Time seasons 5 and 6, If I Were You podcasts and plenty more too keep me occupied. This year, for obvious reasons, I'm quite nervous to fly, so I want to keep myself as distracted as possible.

- At risk of turning this into an advert for electronics, I have to include this keyboard, which has turned out to be pretty useful. Mostly because I like to multitask my blog post writing with watching something or other on my laptop (and typing on an iPad is teeeedeious). I plan to write up some post ideas I have while I'm away to keep the brain from turning into a holiday mulch. I miss writing!

This all speaks for itself, though it should be noted that this is the cut-down version, as all my makeup wouldn't fit in the frame!

As nervous as I am, like most, I really do enjoy the holiday build-up of packing my carry on bag, roaming the airport and settling into my own little space when I'm up in the air. I am truly sad but it's so satisfying to organise the contents of a bag and see everything be put to good use!!

P.S. If you have any questions about anything, leave me a comment on Instagram because Blogger and Twitter is blocked over in China!

  1. Have a lovely trip, Jade! I highly recommend getting a facial mist for the plane as I tend to find the altitude makes my skin really dry! You're probably on your way to china now, so this advice is no help! haha, but if you can pick one up on your way back then I highly recommend it.

    Happy holidays!

  2. Those earphones are amazing! So beautiful!
Hand baggage packing and I have a love/hate relationship. I want to take the minimum I need but I kind of also want to take full advantage of those extra 10 kg I'm allowed. I still don't have a hand luggage bag and I'm on a 10h flight in just over a week! Oops!
