These kind of awards take me back to when I first started blogging (about four years ago!) and they were in abundance, recognising niceness or whatever. They were a cute idea - not so much an award, as a tag with questions - and a good way to get to know each other and promote other blogs.
But they seem to have died out, from what I've seen, so it was a nice surprise to be tagged recently by Alex (Refined Lately) for the Liebster Award. This actually jogged my memory that Caz (This Is Caz) also tagged me back in April, so I thought this would be a good time to write my post before it gets lost in the back of my blog mind forever. So as not to write the longest post in history, I thought I'd answer a selection of questions from Alex and Caz, instead of doing all 22. Hope you both don't mind and thank you for the tag!
Questions from Alex
What's behind your blog name?
Michelle is 100% behind my blog name and I'm forever indebted to her for it! She left a comment on one of my posts mentioning that my outfit had that certain "Jade aesthetic" that I always go for and the phrase really stuck out to me. With her seal of approval, I made the switch from the very imaginative "Jade Fung Blog" I previously had and bought my own custom domain to become The Jade Aesthetic you know and love today, heh.
What's the weirdest food you've eaten?
Funnily enough, this only happened the other day. I love the smell of dog and cat food (honestly), so I was happy to read that you can feed Dreamies cat treats to hamsters. I bought the chicken and duck flavours for my hamster and it just smelt so good... and I was curious... so I ate one of each. Really not bad at all, just a bit salty and the chicken was better than duck! As for weirdest human food... snake in a restaurant in China many years ago. No recollection of what it tasted like. And no, we don't eat dogs.
Are gift cards acceptable gifts?
Forever and always. People (myself included) might have a certain style but they could be very particular about the pieces they buy, so a gift card is a safe way to go, in my opinion. PLUS, you'd also technically be giving them the gift of shopping! I'd love it anyway...
What is the latest show you've obsessed about?
Adventure Time - I've been meaning to watch it for so long and now I have all the time in the world, I can binge watch. The stupid humour is very me and I feel I am one with Lumpy Space Princess.
What is your best investment in the last five years?
Since five years spans from ages 16-21, I'm not yet self-supported so I think it would be wrong of me to mention any extravagant material things I have, as gifts wouldn't count as my own investment. (Though, I have tried to explain numerous times that because of Chanel's price increases, the classic flap bag was the best investment my mum will ever make.) So, I choose Netflix! No explanation needed if you are also a Netflix subscriber, and if you aren't: it will open your eyes to a myriad of possibilities.
Questions from Caz
What is your favourite quote?
No exclusive favourites. One that sticks out that I used to say a lot is: "Never regret anything because at one time it was exactly what you wanted." But I also looove mushy love quotes. Love and Misadventure by Lang Leav is the definitive source for love quotes for me!
What is your biggest achievement?
So far in my very short life, I suppose graduating from university with a First! But I think little everyday "achievements" make me happier. The kind that only you and your close friends talk about, like, "omg, he spoke to me first!", "I had to buy the top a size smaller than usual!" or "My cake turned out perfectly."
Do you have any pets?
^_^ Yes, I have a gorgeous little five month old hammy called Hermione who I spoil as if I bore her from my own loins. If you ever saw a hamster stretching after waking up, you'd die. It's the cutest thing. You can read more about the ham here!
What is your most worn perfume?
I don't have one because I'm too fickle with smells! I'm currently trying to stick with Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess but my friend wears Balenciaga Paris and mother of pearl it smells good. I have it spritzed on a card from the perfume counter and I cannot stop smelling this piece of paper. So I may have to pick that up (hoping she doesn't mind!) very soon.
What is your favourite nail polish shade?
Essie's Urban Jungle - a recent find that overtakes Essie Fiji as my favourite! The colour speaks for itself but it's a very creamy, beigey, off-white with the slightest orchid undertone. A very sophisticated colour that goes with any outfit.

But rules schmules, I also want to open up this tag for anyone to do (handy if you're running out of post ideas!) so as not to exclude anyone. In fact, I implore everyone to do it because I'd genuinely like to read your posts! Doesn't have to be in Leibster Award format or you can even answer in the comments if you want.
