I don't have a tourism bone in my body; I'd much rather find the biggest shopping centre than trekking around in sweltering heat looking at bricks (Great Wall of China - done that and learnt my lesson). But my friend wanted to see some Barcelona 'stuff' so of course we did.
This was taken outside La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's very Gothic and very unfinished cathedral. In all honesty, I don't know why they're bothering to complete it. The huge cranes and scaffolding photobombing tourist photos were not attractive and the new bricks next to the old look so out of place. But we did manage to geg into a nearby english speaking tour guide talking about the history of it etc. Apparently poor Gaudi loved one person for his whole life, never got over her right up to his death!
I may not like crowded touristy places but I'll never say no to somewhere with an aerial view of a city, especially when it's on top of a shopping centre with a Sephora! I hit the jackpot when we found Arenas De Barcelona (a converted bullring) because it had air-con, amazing restaurants and nice views of Barcelona.
Limbs AND midriff out was more than necessary, though in hindsight maybe the flower headband wasn't because the way I got stared at, you'd think people in Barcelona had never seen one before!!!
